How do I minimally add a device?
How do I run a Minimal Add?
A device can be added with the minimum information by:
- As "Admin" go to the "Admin Tool" page.
- Then select "Add Single Device" in the "Network Discovery" section on the left sidebar.
- This will open the "Add Single Device" page in the "Add Device" tab.
- Then put the IP address of the device in the "IP Address" box.
- Then select (tick) the box next to the line:
Minimal Add Request only minimal Device and Interface Information: - Then select the "Add Device" button.
- The "Single Device Addition Log" should then be displayed.
- When the device has been added a line like "--Completed-- Wed Apr 3 11:37:52 2024" will be displayed at the end of the log.
- Just above this line the section "NIM Discovery Errors Summary" will show any issues.
- If there are any problems the "Display last log" tab can be selected on the top left and the log can be downloaded to your default download location by selecting the word here (in blue) on "Download the compressed single device addition here" line at the bottom of the page.
- The file will have a name like "snmpv2-device-s2prH.log.gz"
NOTE: When adding a Device using the Minimal Add this option is stored against the Device and is used in future Rewalks or Discoveries of the Device.
If the Device is already known, any existing options will be reset and the newly selected options will be stored.
Minimal Add: This will only poll the device for basic device information.
